Born in Lithuania, Sulamita Aronovsky spent her formative years in Russia and lists among her teachers such eminent musicians as Lev Barenboim, Grigory Ginsburg, Abram Schatzkes and Alexander Goldenweizer.
Following her graduation with distinction from the Lithuanian State Conservatoire in Vilnius, she completed her post-graduate studies at the Moscow Conservatoire and embarked upon a successful teaching career. In addition, her concerts and broadcasts throughout the former USSR enhanced her already outstanding reputation as a performer.
Sulamita Aronovsky came to Britain in 1971 and since then, her activities have embraced various fields of musical life in the United Kingdom and abroad. Her international masterclasses have been acclaimed in Germany, Italy, Poland, France and Israel, attracting participants from all over the world. She has considerable experience as a juror, having served on the panels of Marguerite Long (Paris), Busoni (Bolzano), Maria Callas (Athens), Arthur Rubinstein (Tel-Aviv), Robert Casadesus (Cleveland), Paloma O'Shea (Santander) and Rachmaninov (Moscow) International Piano Competitions, among others.
As a member of the professorial staff at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, as well as teaching privately in London, she has worked with a large number of pianists. Over thirty of her students have subsequently won prizes at major international piano competitions, including 1st prizes at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, the Maria Canals Competition, the Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition and the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.
Sulamita Aronovsky is the Founder and Artistic Controller of the London International Piano Competition.
